I have been taking a Photo every day and will take one for the rest of the year for a kick ass slideshow at the end of 2011...I thought it would be a breeze but its not. Winter days don't have much light and not much action going on. Looking foward to longer days full of travel and fun. I have been taking photos with all my cameras keeping it fresh and mixing it up...Stay tuned.

I was asked by my long-time friend Ryan to take engagement photos for him and his wife to be Lindsey. I was happy to take some shots around Long Beach. This is a lil bit of what we got...

Sidecut:

The concave curvature along the length of the side of a board.
Sidecut gives a board the the ability to turn on the water.
It helps create easy turn initiation, smooth carvability, and
energetic turn finishing. When you flex into the board while
it’s slanted up on edge, the sidecut interacts with the
water, arcing in a radius similar to that of the sidecut.
Many other variables play into how the waterboard turns,
too, though-amount of board flex, level of edge grip with
the water, and even water conditions. Generally, deeper,
smaller-radius sidecuts equate to quicker, sharper turns.
A more mellow, larger-radius sidecut creates longer turns
more suited for high-speed cruising. Therefore, what kind
of riding you want to do obviously determines the type of
sidecut you should choose.

Now we just need the present to look into the future...

Here in LoCal we had two weeks of 70-80 degree desert heat and we took advantage of it. The crew got together for an epic day at wall91 and gamblers. Ryan Dahlem captured all of the footy with his sweet new 7D. Here is some of what I got...

Found some old memory cards from when I was shooting with the good ol' D40.

There is a lot going on in this frame.

First, the rider is Brandon Rau, one of his first trips to the Carlsbad lagoon since moving out west.

Second, the tow vehicle of choice in this frame is a PWC and manning that vessel is MISH

Third, off in the background is Zac Boyd capturing the goods via film. (missing tape)

So I'm going to start doing a rider spotlight of a few of my friends I shoot often. Trevor Glenn Behler is going to be the first. Check the following frames and you can see why Trevor is going help change the sport to waterboarding. Trevor had to move back to Michigan but I have a feeling he will be back.
